TICONDEROGA, N.Y. -
Top honors Tuesday for first
responders who saved a truck driver's life in Ticonderoga.
The Essex County Board of Supervisors
recognized the rescuers with certificates for their heroism in the middle of
the night. Last month, the big rig was going too fast and skidded off of
Chilson Hill into Eagle Lake, landing upside down in 15 feet of water. The cab
of the truck was crushed. Steve Stubing heard the crash and boated out to the
truck. Only the driver's nose and chin were above water and he had a broken leg
and collarbone. It took crews more than half an hour to rescue him.
