RUTLAND, Vt. -
Rutland will soon get a new Apple retailer.
Small Dog Electronics announced Wednesday that it will open its newest store in one of the largest vacant properties in downtown Rutland. It's a deal GMP helped to seal. CEO Mary Powell convinced the company Rutland is a good investment and the two will be teaming up in a future Energy Innovation Center, also in Rutland. The goal is to reduce heating costs and fuel new energy ideas.
"And the partnership between Green Mountain Power and Small Dog is just so strong and it's going to have such staying power for Small Dog here in the downtown. This I think just goes to show that businesses can be and will be successful in downtown Rutland," said Michael Coppinger of the Downtown Rutland Partnership.
Small Dog hopes to be up and running by April 2013.
