Becky GoodermoteHOOSICK, N.Y. (AP) - An eastern New York woman has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident after she struck a bicyclist on a rural road.
State police say 37-year-old Becky Goodermote, of Hoosick Falls, was driving in the town of Hoosick early Monday morning when she hit 39-year-old Matthew Ratelle, throwing him 30 yards.
Ratelle, of Petersburg, is in critical condition.
State police issued a press release Wednesday afternoon that said he had died, but his sister-in-law Kim Ratelle said Thursday that he is still alive. A state police spokesman did not immediately return a call seeking comment on Thursday. An Albany Medical Center spokeswoman says no information is available about his condition.
Goodermote was arrested after a relative told troopers she'd arrived home with damage to her vehicle that she couldn't explain. She's being held at the Rensselaer County Jail.
