BALTIMORE -
A former Olympian is accused of molesting a girl he was coaching at a competition in Lake Placid.
Genrich Sretenski, 50, was arrested Tuesday in Maryland where he lives and trains ice dancers. Thursday he was in court to face extradition to New York.
Prosecutors say in July of last year, the coach accompanied the girl to the Ice Dancing Championships in Lake Placid, where he allegedly kissed and molested her in his hotel room. He also allegedly sent her hundreds of text messages professing his love.
He denies the charges.
Sretenski is also being sued. The girl claims she was "an elite, nationally acclaimed skater" and that her bright future in the sport has now been destroyed.
