WATERBURY, Vt. -
The Red Cross is launching a regional initiative to help communities be more prepared for when the next major storm hits our area.
State officials will meet with community leaders from across the state in Waterbury today to teach them how to set up and operate their own emergency shelters. The program offers $3,000 in equipment and training for setting up and running self-sustaining 3-day shelters.
The meeting is today at 1 p.m. at the Waterbury Congregational Church on Main Street and is open to anyone.
