MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Gov. Peter Shumlin has appointed a Brattleboro Union High School student to the Vermont Board of Education.
Lachlan Francis of Putney is a junior at the school. He has been active in sports and civic organizations and has worked as a farmhand and a camp counselor. Francis also has traveled to Cuba.
He will serve as a non-voting member this year, and become a voting member during his second year on the board.
