BURLINGTON, Vt. -
The lights are back on for more than 25-thousand Vermonters.
Saturday's storm knocked over dozens of electrical lines, cutting power to about 28-thousand Green Mountain Power customers. Electricity has been restored to all but about 50 of those who lost it due to the weather.
Company officials credit long hours and GMP's recent merger with CVPS for the quick turnaround.
"We're really able to dispatch much more efficiently to send crews to where they're needed because we have all the resources from the company available working as one team identifying where the crews need to go to be most effective and most efficient in the restoration efforts," said GMP's Dotty Schnure.
Crews from neighboring states came to Vermont to help clean up after the wind and thunderstorm rolled through. Schnure says several customers experienced separate outages Sunday after a homeowner chopped down a tree which fell on lines.
