LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. -
A state agency is looking at ways to keep invasive species out of Lake George.
The Lake George Park Commission is gathering public input on options for controlling invasive species like Asian Clams, Eurasian Milfoil and the new invader the spiny water flea.
The commission plans to release a draft plan by mid-October.
One possible strategy is to continue boat inspections that lake stewards are doing this year on a voluntary basis and using a new, portable power washer to clean boats. Another possibility would be to make the inspections and washings mandatory.
