Gov. Peter Shumlin
RUTLAND, Vt. -
Governor Peter Shumlin officially kicked off his reelection campaign Monday.
He made stops in Bennington and in Rutland to shake hands with business owners, and yes -- he even kissed a baby. The governor also phoned in to a number of talk radio shows throughout the day.
The governor says the purpose of the day was to thank voters for electing him into office two years ago and to ask them for their vote in November for another two years in office.
"We have the 5th lowest unemployment rate in America. We're growing jobs. We're seeing real economic progress. But we have more work to do. You can't get it done in two years. We're making real change getting tough things done and I'm hoping Vermonters will give me the opportunity to continue to serve this state," Shumlin said.
Shumlin will formally launch his campaign at Nectar's bar and restaurant in Burlington at 5:00 Monday afternoon.
