Man charged in Vt. stabbing gets psych treatment

Posted: Updated:

RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) - A New Jersey man found mentally incompetent to face charges in the stabbing of a Killington, Vt., hotel employee is being moved from the state prison in Springfield to a mental health facility in West Burke.

The Rutland Herald reports 55-year-old Mark Sailor will move to the Eagle Eye Farm Rehabilitation Center, where he'll have 24-hour supervision.

There won't be locked doors and windows for Sailor, but an alarm will sound if he tries to escape.

Rutland County State's Attorney Marc Brierre says he'd like to try Sailor for attempted murder if he's ever found competent to stand trial.

Sailor's been diagnosed with schizophrenia and delusions following his arrest for the unprovoked stabbing of 61-year-old Barbara Ashworth in 2005. She survived the attack.
