Wrong-way driver takes 95 mile detour

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -

Police say a Ripton man took quite a detour on the New York Thruway while drunk.

Troopers say 35-year-old Jarred Wendel left a concert in Albany and wanted to head home to Vermont, but instead drove 95 miles the wrong way, only stopping because he ran out of gas just west of Utica.

Wendel faces a DUI charge. Police say his blood alcohol was .12.
