MALONE, N.Y. -

A Plattsburgh man will be spending the next five years behind bars, after admitting his role in a violent home invasion.

Brandon Collins, 20, pleaded guilty to burglary.

Police say Collins, Daniel DeCarlo, 29, and Todd Knudson broke into the Malone home of Jeffrey Durant last year as he was sleeping. Collins held him down as Decarlo beat him with a crowbar. Durant was able to break free and escape.

DeCarlo is serving 14 years for attempted murder. Police say Durant was targeted because he was dating DeCarlo's ex-girlfriend.
