Springfield High School has decided to forfeit this Saturday's varsity football game at Lyndon.
Head coach Kevin Tallman told Channel 3 Sports tonight, the Cosmos are down to just four upperclassmen: three seniors and one junior. Their initial roster included 34 players, 14 freshmen. Coach Tallman cited player health as a major concern.
Tallman, in his first year as head coach at Springfield, says there will be an open meeting at the Riverside Middle School Monday night following the Cosmos junior varsity game, which begins at 4 p.m. All members of the community are invited to discuss the situation.
Springfield is off to an 0-2 start, losing those games by a combined score of 108-6.
