Voters will decide the fate of the Waterbury police department.
Village trustees have decided to put an item on the November ballot to allow residents to vote on whether to approve a charter change that would abolish the police department.
Public hearings are scheduled for Sept. 25 and Nov. 1.
A charter change would still need approval from the Legislature.
