PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -
A rare piece of history is coming to Plattsburgh for the public to see.
The original copy of President Abraham Lincoln's preliminary version of the Emancipation Proclamation will be on display at the Plattsburgh State Art Museum next month.
Read to his cabinet in 1862, the draft document was written by Lincoln and includes edits from his Secretary of State, William Seward, who was also a former New York governor.
People can view it for free from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19.
