Rutland voters to decide on school sales

RUTLAND, Vt. -

Voters in Rutland will decide in November if the school board can sell the Watkins and Dana Schools.

The properties have been on the market since last year, but the school board recently discovered they need voter permission to put the properties up for sale.

The Housing Trust has plans to buy the Watkins School for $100,000 and turn it into senior living. The Dana School is up for sale with a $290,000 price tag.

The proposed sales will be on the November ballot.
