UNDERHILL, Vt. -
A busy day for rescuers on Mount
Mansfield with five injured hikers.
Dozens of emergency workers from
multiple agencies responded to Underhill State Park just after 2 p.m. Friday.
The first call was for a 51-year-old
woman with an ankle injury 2 miles up the mountain. But once they arrived, they
learned about a 12-year-old girl further down the trail who also hurt her ankle
and needed to be carried down. Two other 12-year-olds were injured, but walked
out with an escort. And a 50-year-old man suffered a leg injury but also got
off the trail without needing to be carried.
Police say the injuries happened separately, but it is
not clear if any of the hikers were in the same group.
