PLAINFIELD, Vt. (AP) - Cathy Marsha of Barre was bused in for a doctor's appointment on Monday and will return next month for a dental appointment all at the Health Center in Plainfield, one of the state's seven Federally Qualified Health Centers, which offers patients in the surrounding rural Vermont towns medical and dental care as well as physical therapy and mental health services.
Marsha says the staff know her by name and even call to check in on her and her husband.
On Monday, the Health Center unveiled its new $1.2 million expansion, which will house more mental health services - including psychiatrists - space for yoga classes and to store a mobile dental program.
The 5,000-square-foot building was paid for by $988,000 federal stimulus funding and about $200,000 raised locally.
