BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Gasoline prices continue to soar in Vermont, up an average of eight cents a gallon just in the last week.
The statewide average is now $3.97 according to VermontGasPrices.com. That compares to the national average of $3.86.
Prices are already well over four dollars at some stations, with a high Monday being reported in Jay at $4.11. The cheapest gas out there is $3.84 at a handful of stations in Rutland and Middlebury.
The average price in Vermont is up 50 cents in the last two months, mirroring a nationwide trend. Analysts from GasBuddy.com expect the overall average price at the pump for 2012 will be the highest ever.
