BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Tuesday we are expecting to learn who won the Progressive primary for Governor.
Last week county clerks re-tabulated the results after write-in candidate Annette Smith asked for a recount when the initial tally showed her losing to Martha Abbott by a single vote. The recount totals will be turned over to Washington County Superior Court Judge Robert Bent. He scheduled a hearing Tuesday morning. If Smith wins, she plans to be on the ballot to offer an alternative to Democratic incumbent Peter Shumlin. If Abbott wins, she will reject the nomination, so as not to take any votes away from Shumlin.
Kristin Carlson spoke with Secretary of State Jim Condos about the recount.
