A recount in the Progressive primary for governor has confirmed the original winner.
The ballots were recounted late last week and Monday afternoon Washington County Superior Court Judge Robert Bent announced that Martha Abbott received 381 votes while her write-in challenger Annette Smith received 340.
After the initial count, Abbott appeared to have won the election by one vote, leading Smith to ask for the recount.
Abbott has already said she will declined the nomination, meaning there will not be a Progressive candidate for governor this year.
