Prosecutor: Deeghan made up traffic tickets

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

A former state trooper who allegedly stole taxpayer money in an overtime scam, is now accused of writing hundreds of fake traffic tickets.

Chittenden County prosecutor T. J. Donovan says Jim Deeghan issued 976 tickets over twelve years that were never filed with the judicial bureau.

Deeghan who retired from the force in July, is also accused of padding his time sheet to the tune of an extra $140,000 that he didn't earn.
