Concerns about LIHEAP funding

MONTPELIER, Vt. -

After a mild heating season last year, there are new concerns about heating assistance for the coming winter.

Congress is expected to sign off on level funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program that helps thousands of Vermonters with their bills. But with energy prices rising and demand growing those federal dollars won't go as far this year.

Last year the state supplemented the federal funding with $6 million. 

The Governor has not said whether he will support a similar allocation this year.
