BURLINGTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT -
Porter Airlines will double the number
of flights offered between Toronto and Burlington this winter.
Porter formed the partnership last
year with Ski Vermont and four Vermont ski resorts to bring Canadian tourists
to the area during the winter months. Nearly 2,000 tourists boarded weekend
flights from Toronto to Burlington last season. The expanded service this
season begins Dec. 15.
"Jobs and economic
opportunities mean we need to get creative. The way we're getting creative in
Vermont is by bringing tourists to Vermont to enjoy the best skiing in the
world. I'm grateful to Porter Air for expanding the program this year,"
said Gov. Peter Shumlin, D-Vermont.
Participating resorts
include Jay Peak, Smugglers Notch, Stowe and Sugarbush. Shuttle busses leave
from the airport and drop tourists off at each resort.
