RUTLAND TOWN, Vt. -
Rutland Town Fire Officials say their current firehouse is outdated and in need of serious upgrades, so they're asking for voter approval for a new building.
The current building on Route 4A in Center Rutland was built in 1967 and doesn't meet National Fire Protection Agency standards.
The Rutland Herald reports those upgrades are included in the $2.7 million proposal which includes pieces of the current historic building.
Voters can weigh in on the project at a public meeting Oct. 15 at the Rutland Town School.
