Police believe pedestrian intentionally walked into traffic

PUTNEY, Vt. -

A pedestrian was killed Wednesday morning in Putney, and police say it appears the man intentionally jumped into the path of an oncoming truck.

Vt. state police say Douglas Plitt, 39, of Putney, was walking along Route 5 in Putney, when he stopped, crouched down and then stepped out, striking the side of the truck. Plitt died from head injuries.

Police say the driver was not at fault.
