Study finds concerning levels of arsenic in rice

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

A new report says there are concerning levels of arsenic in many rice products.

The investigation by Consumer Reports looked at a variety of items, including rice drinks and infant cereal.

The review found higher levels of arsenic in brown rice than white rice because of the way it's processed. It also found that rice produced in southern states had more arsenic than rice from California or Asia.

So far, the FDA says the levels are not high enough to tell people to change their diets.
