"I hope they find him soon," said Moneque Paul of Havelock. "They said he is dangerous, dangerous for the kids and the people."
After ditching the car, Canadian authorities believe Bresaw traveled three miles and crossed the border into the United States in Mooers Forks, N.Y.
New York State Police say they have confirmed Bresaw was in Plattsburgh Wednesday, but they are confident the accused killer is no longer in the area. However, they would not elaborate any further. Canadian authorities say Bresaw remains on the run.
"He traveled quite a long way from here, so he is very mobile," said Agent Pierre Tremblay of Surete du Quebec.
A bit of relief for a community still trying to overcome a tragedy.
"It's not something you ever want to happen again in your life," Sample said. "It's scary."
