WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -
It's one of the top excursions for a 4-H'er; going to the Eastern States Exposition or "Big E," a 17-day long fair in West Springfield, Mass.
"A lot of these 4-H'ers will not become professional, but this is probably one of the top goals that they set," said Mary Fay of Vermont 4-H.
"It's an accomplishment to get here. You have to submit an application to begin with," said Meaghan Hughes of Jericho.
Hughes, 17, is celebrating her last year in 4-H with the Big E experience.
"I've learned so much about life skills and really good quality of life, learn how to interact with people in a positive way," she said.

"It's a horse show on a whole different scale," Hughes said. "You compete with people from all different states. It's incredible."
