BERLIN, N.H. -
New Hampshire officials are trying to stop the spread of bedbugs in Berlin.
The city's code enforcement officer says he's gotten multiple reports of bedbugs, mostly in apartment buildings. As a result, he wants to update the ordinances so that the landlord-- not the tenant-- would be required to pay an exterminator to get rid of bug or rodent infestations.
But some city councilors think the proposal unfairly places all of the expenses on the landlord.
