MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - A Barre man is going to prison for 18 months for buying four handguns for someone who then planned to sell the weapons to someone else and share the money with him.
Prosecutors say Jeffrey Morse was sentenced Monday.
Court records say that on Aug. 29, 2011 Morse met an individual known to him only as "Q." Two days later Morse agreed to buy four handguns for "Q."
Morse didn't have the proper identification so he had a friend buy the firearms. The friend, Joshua Bailey, bought the guns at R&L Archery in Barre, and turned them over to Morse, who then gave them to "Q."
The guns have not been recovered.
Bailey was also charged. He was sentenced earlier this year to time served.
