RUTLAND, Vt. -
Police in Rutland are investigating a bizarre crash that left one woman dead and four others injured Wednesday evening.
It happened on Cleveland Avenue around 6 p.m. Police say a car drove into three other vehicles in the parking lot at the Rutland Discount Food and Liquidation Center-- some cars were pushed about 50 feet by the impact.
One of the vehicles hit a woman who was leaving the store. She later died. Her father is in the hospital with a head injury, but is stable. Police have not released any names.
Police are looking at the possibility that drugs or alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
Cleveland Avenue will be shut down between Water Street and Park Avenue Thursday morning while the investigation continues.
