South Burlington native Thomas Forgione is one year away from fulfilling a lifelong dream.
The Rice High School grad has given a verbal committment to play for the University of Vermont next year. But before that, Forgione is getting ready for his second season in the United States Hockey League, the top junior league in the U.S.
After leaving Rice, Forgione tried out for, and made, the USHL's Cedar Rapids Roughriders. The 5-9 forward, who lists former UVM star Martin St. Louis as his favorite player, played in 40 games for Cedar Rapids, scoring ten goals and added six assists. This year, Forgione will suit up for the Sioux Falls Stampede.
Forgione cannot sign a letter of intent to attend UVM yet, but he tells Channel Three Sports that nothing will stop him from joining the Catamounts in 2013.
