POWNAL, Vt. -
A Vermont hunter has bagged a very big bear-- weighing in at more than 500 pounds.
Michael Davenport of Pownal spotted the bear in a field behind his home last Monday when he got back from work.
He says he grabbed his rifle and, using a stone wall as a shield, shot at the bear.
Davenport found the bear in the woods a little later and says he needed his stepson and a tractor to help him move the 501.5-pound bear, which is now at a taxidermist.
