Farm Bill won't be voted on

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON, D.C. -

The Farm Bill won't be voted on by Congress before the elections, something that politicians like North Country Congressman Bill Owens says is leaving farmers' futures hanging in the balance.

House Speaker John Boehner said he didn't think the House had enough votes for either a short or long-term bill extension, so Congress left Washington last week with the five-year, $500 billion bill in limbo.

Democrats are now using the bill in a new series of campaign ads.

The Senate already passed their version of the bill early in the summer.
