LOS ANGELES -
A guilty verdict in a disturbing California murder case involving two former Vermonters.
Dawn Viens, 39, disappeared in late 2009. Her remains have never been found.
David Viens, 49, told police he accidentally killed his wife. He said he then boiled her body at his California restaurant for four days before dumping her remains down a drain.
Prosecutors played David Viens' confession in court. Thursday, jurors in Los Angeles found him guilty of second-degree murder.
The chef gave police the confession from a hospital bed last year after leaping off an 80-foot cliff. Investigators say he jumped after learning he was a suspect in his wife's disappearance.
Dawn Papin Viens grew up in Burlington. David Viens is from South Burlington.
