The legal hurdles have been smoothed over and now it is up to Burlington voters to decide if renovations to the waterfront will move forward.
The plan includes much more parking by relocating the skate park, extending Lake Street and rerouting the bike path. The city is asking voters to approve a $6 million bond vote to pay for the project. The plan does not include any upgrades to the Moran plant, but Mayor Miro Weinberger says it should help in finding new partners for that project in the future.
"Can go out to partners and say what a lot of great things we have the offer here. We have a clean site, we have parking, we have streetscape and it will actually be built completed, committed going on and I think that will change what we're offering to partners from past efforts," said Weinberger, D-Burlington.
Weinberger says they are putting this on the November ballot rather than wait until Town Meeting Day because if it is approved this fall, they can break ground in 2013.
