A Berlin couple arranged a impromptu marriage at a hospital Saturday so that the bride's dying father could accompany her down the aisle.
Kelley Bushey and Mike Vaupel said 'I do' in the Fletcher Allen Cafeteria.
The pair began dating about four years ago. But Bushey's father, Louie Bushey, has terminal lung cancer and is counting his remaining time.
Kelly Bushey-Vaupel said, "We've been talking about getting married for awhile now, and dad today had just mentioned that he would like to see that happen so three hours ago, we said let's make it happen and it's great to have him here with us."
The couple headed home to get changed for the ceremony, while the nurses set up.
One family member who couldn't make the spur of the moment wedding was able to watch, thanks to a smartphone.
