A power house of women from all over the world were in the green mountains this weekend -- knocking competitors to the ground.
Sunday marked the last day of the WFTDA Roller Derby East Region Playoffs at the Champlain Valley Expo. The top ten teams from the East Region have been competing during the three day tournament to place for the championships being held in Atlanta, Georgia.
"Having the opportunity to bring them here and bring New York, Philly, London, Montreal, Baltimore, Carolina -- all coming here to Vermont is great. We want to build our reputation and have people understand what Vermont roller derby is all about. The opportunity to bring them to Vermont in the fall, in probably the best time of year is just an incredible opportunity," said Michelle Jeffrey, a Green Mountain Derby Dame team member.
The East Region Playoffs is the first tournament the Green Mountain Derby Dames has hosted in Vermont.
