Posted: Updated:
NEWFANE, Vt. -

One final bridge in Newfane needs replacing after Irene, but town officials say a $500 thousand dollar price tag is a lot to spend on a structure that serves one family on that road.

The Brattleboro Reformer says local authorities would like to see the the FEMA money spent on rehabilitating local roads and municipal buildings, so they are holding a public vote proposing the town use surplus money to buy the property from the family on Lynch Bridge Road.

That meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Williamsville Hall on October 30.
