BARRE, Vt. -
Almost half of Vermont's students are eligible for free or reduced price lunches, and now some schools are feeding kids on the weekends.
Sixteen schools across the state are participating in the BackPack Program, which provides kids with food to bring home with them on Friday to eat between then and Monday.
Vermont Foodbank C.E.O. John Sayles says the program has tripled in size since its inception five years ago and now serves some 650 children.
