MONTPELIER, Vt. -
Rejected by the governor, Vermont Republicans are now asking Attorney General Bill Sorrell to start the ball rolling on an investigation of his own campaign.
The GOP says a TV ad appears to be evidence of an illegal coordinated expenditure between Sorrell's campaign and the SuperPac that funded the ad in support of his candidacy.
Governor Shumlin refused the Republican's request to appoint an independent counsel, now the party wants Sorrell to find someone outside his office to take up the investigation.
