ELIZABETHTOWN, N.Y. -
A northern New York county is facing a big budget spending gap-- about $13 million more this year. And officials hope selling an embattled nursing home will help offset the difference.
Back in June, Essex County lawmakers agreed to sell the Horace Nye Nursing home for just over $4 million, but so far, no contract has been signed.
The Plattsburgh Press-Republican reports that if a deal is inked soon, money from that sale could be used to reduce the budget deficit.
A public hearing on the budget will take place Nov. 26.
