RUTLAND, Vt. -
The Rutland Regional Medical Center has closed its inpatient physical rehabilitation clinic.
Shutting down the 12-patient unit saves the hospital about $3.5 million a year.
Rutland Regional still offers outpatient rehab services for people recovering from strokes, head or spinal injuries, joint replacements and other ailments.
Now only two hospitals in Vermont have inpatient rehab units-- Mount Ascutney Hospital in Windsor and Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
