MONTPELIER, Vt. -
Hunting season is almost upon us and hunters who travel out of state are being warned to check the rules before they bring back deer or elk.
The rules are aimed at protecting Vermont's deer from chronic wasting disease.
The state's fish and wildlife department says it's illegal to bring deer or elk from places that have had that disease or from captive hunt facilities.
Those rules apply to carcasses from 21 states and two Canadian provinces.
