State to help with stormwater runoff

Posted: Updated:
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -

The state is stepping in, with federal funds, to help municipalities control stormwater runoff.

Environmental officials are using Northfield as an example as town officials are considering proposed biomass plant, they are working on a plan to treat resulting stormwater.

In Isle La Motte, officials want money to pay for engineering services that might improve stormwater runoff there.

The U.S. Forest Service has granted Vermont $250,000 for technical assistance to help towns prevent problems rather than clean them up.
