Vt. jail worker charged with embezzlement

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Her job was to keep track of bail money for the jail in Chittenden County, but now business manager Tina Howard faces possible jail time herself.

Police say the 41-year-old pocketed $750 in bail money, intending to use it on herself. But the theft was uncovered before she spent it.

Investigators say once her bosses confronted Howard, she gave the money back.

She still faces an embezzlement charge.
