Hunters have a strong deer population for this year.
Biologists say the mild winter and an early spring green-up means they expect population growth for the state this year.
They say given the increasing numbers, it's important for hunters to harvest enough deer to keep the herd healthy.
Hunters are allowed to take up to three deer a year. And some already have, as archery season started Saturday.
