Burglary suspect proposes with stolen ring

BAKERSFIELD, Vt. -

Police say a burglary suspect in Bakersfield turned his loot into gifts for family and friends.

Vermont State police say the 17-year-old stole a 42-inch TV, a laptop computer, two diamond rings and 25-hundred dollars in cash from a home on Saturday night. Police say he then bought an ATV with the cash, gave the TV to friends and proposed to his girlfriend with one of the rings.

Police say the teen admitted to the whole thing Sunday -- and they have recovered almost all of the merchandise.
