School board considers opposition to methadone clinic

Posted: Updated:
SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. -

The South Burlington School Board is considering whether to oppose plans to put a methadone clinic near the city's schools.

The board has already appealed a zoning permit for the clinic at 364 Dorset Street, saying the city didn't do a good enough job assessing the impact on traffic or possible security problems that could affect students.

The clinic would treat hundreds of patients who have addictions to heroin or prescription drugs.

The school board will hold a meeting Wednesday to discuss the topic and consider a resolution opposing the location.

The South Burlington Development Review Board will hold a hearing on their appeal next week.
